Three businesses you can start with almost no money
You asked what business can be set up with zero or almost zero investment. The short answer: skip anything that needs stock, paid ads or a new app. These three need almost no money upfront, because the research, writing, outreach and follow-up work can be done for you. Every rupee figure attached to the options is an illustrative scenario, not a promise.
Sales toolkit for reps and managers
Illustrations on this page are editorial, not real photos.
Your day-to-day coaching knowledge - what a good first call sounds like, which objections kill deals, how to follow up - becomes a paid toolkit: scripts, objection-handling sheets and call-audit scorecards, written fresh for this and sold to inside-sales reps and their managers through a simple payment page. You review it once and record a few voice notes so it sounds like you; everything else is built for you.
- Upfront cost
- ₹0 to set up; optional domain ₹1,000-2,000/yr
- Fee per sale
- 2% + GST (Razorpay), only when someone pays
- From you
- One review, then short weekly check-ins
Getting customers (a plan to test, not a proven channel): three practical sales posts a week from your personal LinkedIn, direct messages to sales managers who engage, and a small email list. Whether this converts is unknown until the first campaign runs.
Illustrative scenario, not a forecast: 40 sales a month at ₹999 is about ₹38,000 after gateway fees.
Grow BizLoop to paid members
The BizLoop app exists as a reviewed test build. Whether it is production-ready - real payments, a release build, its own domain - is not verified, and that remaining work sits with the developers and may carry cost. If and when it is ready, the missing piece is members, not money.
Getting members (a plan to test): find Bengaluru business owners, invite and onboard them, and nudge introductions until the free community is active enough that a paid pass (₹299 to ₹499 a month) is worth buying. One city, free first, paid later.
- Upfront cost
- ₹0 for the growth work
- Open question
- Production readiness, unverified, may cost money
- From you
- Family alignment, then weekly check-ins
Illustrative scenario, not a forecast: 200 paying members at ₹499 is about ₹1 lakh a month.
Mortgage lead engine
Grow the mortgage business you already run instead of starting a new one. Simple, useful content plus outreach to referral partners such as property agents and property managers; interested buyers get handed to you or your team. The advice and the closing stay with the business, as they should.
- Upfront cost
- ₹0, organic outreach only
- From you
- Client conversations stay yours
Getting customers (a plan to test): plain-language content about the buying process, shared with referral partners, with consistent follow-up. Conversion is unknown until tried.
Who does what
- Done for you: research, writing, page and payment-link setup for your approval, outreach drafts, follow-ups, lead tracking and a weekly numbers summary.
- Only you: own the accounts, complete payment KYC, approve the first campaign's words, take real customer calls, and approve any spend.
What zero investment rules out
- Stock or dropshipping: needs inventory money and ad budgets, and returns eat the margin.
- A new app: repeats a developer cost that has already been paid once.
- Paid ads at the start: growth stays organic, slower but free.
- Faceless YouTube or Instagram: free to start, but only 8 to 10% of Indian creators monetise meaningfully and most earn under ₹18,000 a month (BCG, 2025). A slow side bet, not a business.
- Anything built on your employer's leads, data or accounts: off the table, full stop.
The honest maths
Sourced: Razorpay's 2% + GST per transaction, BNI Hyderabad's ₹65,980 annual membership, and the BCG creator numbers. Not sourced: every sales count, conversion rate, revenue figure and timeline attached to the three options. Those are illustrative scenarios, and nobody can honestly promise them before the first campaign runs.
